There's no reason to believe bed bugs aren't a problem in US hospitals too.  I don't think US hospitals have released any _studies_ of the problem, and in this sense, the Brits are ahead of the game, having identified the problem.

Changing sheets isn't enough to keep bed bugs away.  Anyone can bring them into a hospital any time.</description>

At the First International Bedbug Symposium in Herndon VA they reported that they even found bedbugs in a transplant unit of a hospital, where the highest standards of cleanliness and care regarding what is brought in to the unit have to be kept.</description>
