Do not adjust your set
By nobugsonme on Apr 20, 2008 in about the site, bed bugs
Bedbugger.com has made a few changes we hope you will like.
First, amazing Bedbugger NotSoSnug did some wonderful banner art for the site. Please read about it here!
Second, I’ve implemented a new template for the site — really, just a vehicle for the artwork, but I hope it will also be easier to read and negotiate. One of its nicer features is “Featured Post” — the first of which you are now reading. Featured Posts will remain in this prime location for a period of time, rather than dipping downwards with each new post, as is the way with blog entries, thereby allowing us to feature articles you shouldn’t miss.
Another feature of the template: more white space. Less clutter. Links to useful resources are now on a separate page (because the number of sidebars has decreased by half and the number of informative links keeps doubling). As time permits, I will improve that page, making it easier to read, and more informative.
The Privacy Policy has moved out of the sidebar and has been expanded (in part to keep Google’s lawyers happy). A Terms and Conditions has been developed in part from what was once the Copyright statement in the sidebar and Terms in the original About page and Forums. Please take a moment to read them both.
A number of other pages have been consolidated in order to make the site easier to negotiate.

Congratulations, Nobugs!
Very nice! And deepest thanks to you for your tireless work to improve the site, for your dedication and the invaluable service you continue to provide to an unfortunately growing community.
To NotSoSnug, how wonderful is the world of NotSoSnug? Thank you! I thought being able to carry a tune was already awesome, so now I am left with “awesomer!”

I would also like to thank you & NotSoSnug for all of your hard work to improve the website.
I like the new template, but I haven’t been able to locate the search box yet.

The new site looks great, but that drawing above is unsettling, which I guess is the point. Thank you for maintaining such high standards for so long.

Thanks all, for your very kind words.
Hopelessnomo– NotSoSnug is traveling right now, so unfortunately, he will not see your comments right away.
James– I will be interested to know how other readers react to the banner. We intentionally tried to keep the characters as “fun” and non-threatening as possible, while also conveying they were bed bugs.
The focus group ranged from thinking they were nearly perfect, to thinking they were not realistic enough (too cute) to finding them distressing and offputting (too realistic).
Doug– thanks–the search box is missing and will be replaced ASAP. I am sure other things will have been lost in the commotion too.

One more thing– this is good news or bad, depending on your perspective– sometime beween Tuesday and Thursday, the little sitemeter button on the lower right (sidebar) is going to register that 1/2 a million people have visited the site since it began in 10/2006.

(Sorry for the double post -)
This was already a well organized site and very functional with lots of nice features. Now it’s even better and looks great - professional and muy credible. What a great resource in a time of real need.
Great job, everyone (esp Nobugs, I guess)! Thank you.

Nice new site, but some of the links appear broken.
I know this is off topic but may be a real opportunity for someone who is really suffering…
Would you please be so kind as to pass this information on to readers who are suffering from bed bugs in the NYC and New Jersey area. We have several TV producers who want to put a face on bed bug suffering so we are looking for a home or townhouse to treat with non-toxic Cryonite for FREE so that the producers may film and also interview a real bed bug sufferer.
You can help to educate others about the problem of bed bugs! Please visit our blog http://www.sternenvironmental.com/blog/?p=201 for all the details.
We will make every effort to protect your privacy if desired as we understand the sensitivity of the situation, but your story may bring this problem to the forefront of America’s attention and you’ll get your problem resolved for free.

Douglas,
Thank you–I am sure some readers with current infestations will find that a very appealing offer.
I would be most grateful if you would let me know which links are broken, so I can fix them. Thanks!

here is one, from this page http://bedbugger.com/2008/04/20/do-not-adjust-your-set/#more-971 click the forum button at the top and I get page not found.
Another one is from the forum page, click the message button and I get a page not found as well.
Really the site is very nice and I think the new design is great.

Hi Douglas,
I appreciate you taking the time, as well as your compliments. I am happy with the design, but obviously want the site to work well for you!
A few people like yourself so far have reported links not working. They all appear to be using Internet Explorer. I am trying to find out the cause of this, and fix it, but in the meantime, I recommend Firefox or Flock, joyful free web browsers which (IMHO) work better than IE for all websites.

Dear No Bugs,
It is with heavy heart that I write to you and tell you my tragic story, I as you know have a bed bug dog business, well today my car
was stolen and one of my dogs was in the back in his kennel, I fear we have lost him forever, the officer told us that people from DC come to the maryland area and steal cars and joy ride then park them on the side of the road and burn them, I hate to think what is going to happen to my jack, he was an austrailian cattle dog and my best friend we worked together and we became very very close. Please pray they find him unharmed and can bring him back safe to me. My other dog cassie the beagle ran away as they were stealing the car, I now have no dogs to work with and therefore no business. Please pray for my dogs safety. My wife and I are greiving for they was like family members. Thanks for you site it looks great!
Sincerely,
Jimmy Lawrence

The problem Douglas identified should be solved now (it was only a problem apparently for those using IE7).
Please do let me know if you have further troubles!

Congratulations! I am glad your dogs are safe.
I would be very glad to hear your story but please email me or post it in the forums, since it is off-topic in this thread.
