RobM,
It's probably in his/her best interest financially to do so rather than risk having tenants not treat or undertreat.

Thanks nobug! I'm in Toronto, and fortunately our landlord has agreed (grudgingly) to covering the treatment.

It depends where you are, Rob. And even then, it can be complicated. See our FAQ on this.

Hi Toronto realtor,
Thanks for your comment. From what we hear, there are lots of bed bugs in Toronto. Apparently the city council and Chief Medical Officer both think so.

I am confused: were you trying to persuade customers to rent or buy bed bug-infested properties? Or were you trying to convince them -- after they had rented or bought properties with bed bugs -- that they could get rid of them?

Very nice piece of journalism. Great report.
I would disagree with fine American journalists who said that the bed bugs are not a problem. Being a Toronto realtor I have seen many buildings affected with bed bugs. There is no more tricky task than persuade a customer that it's possible to get rid of them.Anyway it is not an easy job. But fortunatelly they are not so common here in Toronto.

nobugsonme, Can you send this to the reporters that are in need of enlightenment please?

Hi Ottawa,
Re: Ottawa PCOs--
This is a question probably best answered by other users in the forums.
Click the "forums" button at top right.
Your login works there too.
To my knowledge there has been no media coverage of action being taken in Ottawa. If you know where you got the bed bugs, calling the health dept. there and also filing a review of the hotel on tripadvisor.com and bedbugregistry.com are all ways you can alert others. Some hotels have been inspected and shut down after a guest complained to the health dept. At the very least, it alerts them that you care.
