Yes, Winston! Thanks for reminding us that the city says the Bronx is fourth place in the 5-borough race for the most bed bug violations logged by HPD.

HPD apparently thinks this is because there are few bed bugs in the Bronx. But maybe it's because people are just calling their landlords, rather than ratting them out to 311. Or not mentioning the problem at all.

If you like your landlord, you will probably give him or her a chance to try to help rather than call 311.

If you fear your landlord, you will not call 311 for fear of reprisals. Reasons to fear landlord include eviction. We've heard of cases where people did not report bed bugs to their landlords because they lacked documentation and feared the landlord would call the immigration officials as retaliation. In some cases, these fears are justified. But people with no immigration concerns are often terrified of complaining about their landlords, nonetheless.

If you own your home and have bed bugs, you will not call 311.

This can not for the city has decreed these are no bed bugs of significance in the Bronx. This is also true for you Staten Island residents as well. I guess cimex can't read the ferry schedule.
