in bed bugs

A Readers Digest story in the February 2008 issue confirms how far bed bugs have come.

So I’m curious what others think of this story. I have a few problems with it myself. It makes it sound like it is fairly easy to get rid of the bugs, immediately blames it on a vacation and hotel even though they live in what is referred to as bed bug central (NYC) and when they packed up their stuff they not only used plastic containers but BOXES. I thought from all I have read that this is a no no. Get rid of the boxes as they like to hide in the corragated material.

Sounds like they had a much better PCO than I (a renter) ended up with and I hope they are indeed rid of them but the comment about the bite at the end of story has me wondering.

My first blog reply I’m no longer a virgin – wish I could say that about bed bugs!

So what do all of you think?

Good analysis, IveBeenBugged.

It was a little overly positive. I also loved how the family was near traumatized by the thought of staying in hotels, yet did not bat an eyelid at their kid going to camp. Hello! Camps are a great place to pick up bed bugs. (So, as you note, is NYC. Been to any parties lately? Keep your coats off the bed!!!)
