Mary smelled gasoline. “I called the security guard. We followed the smell. . . . . The guy who opened the door . . . . was getting bit. He was scratching. He said someone told him to douse himself with gasoline to rid them from his body.”
-
“They’re like Sigourney’s Aliens — by the time you see them, it is too late. ‘If you wait until you see them readily available, you’ve got a major infestation,’ Paul Bossio, general manager of Advantage Pest Control Inc.”
-
“Two shelter residents, who asked that their names not be used, say the problem has been particularly bad lately, with some people refusing even to use the shelter and sleeping on the streets instead.”

Another bedbugged blogger, in Vancouver. “Our Gastown loft has been treated four times now, and the picture above was taken yesterday.” The bite photos are harrowing. And I have seen some bite photos in my day.

someone mentioned in the comment section of the vancouver story that the 2010 olympics are to be held there …. yikes. I wonder how many unsuspecting winter games fans will be taking home little souvenirs of vancouver?

I found this quote in the National Post from a PCO most fascinating: “Not all of our technicians do the bed bug jobs. It’s a very labour intensive job and there’s a fear of bringing them home with you.”
If even PCO technicians are afraid of bringing bedbugs home with them, it shows how difficult bedbugs are to eradicate. I hope people who say you just have to “spray and use a mattress cover” to treat bedbugs read that quote!
