I had an exterminator tell me to put diatomaceous earth in a water solution for effective disbursement. It seems to work really well in a spray bottle. The bottles will clog up some so I bought a few. It dries quickly to a powder which is what you want. I sprayed all the cracks in my bed as well as the beading around the mattress and then a lighter spray on the surface of the mattress.
You can spray it right on your rugs. Here’s a solution from one website
It can be applied as a dry dust, or mixed with water at the rate of 2 oz. per quart and sprayed as a liquid.
ALSO two sided carper tape on your bedlegs will stop them from crawling up. I just used packing tape with the sticky side out.
This kept them at bay for many months. Just discovered a new bite so am treating everything again.
