This flickr user, after my own heart, photographs curbside mattresses waiting for removal.
When they’re so shiny and new-looking, like this one found at Kent and Manhattan Ave, Brooklyn, one wonders how there could be any other reason for tossing them out.

I just saw two discarded mattresses and box springs 25 minutes ago in midtown. I crossed the street to avoid them.

Buggles…Nobugs has requested this before ..Please, if you have a digital camera, carry it around with you and take pics of these discarded mattresses…and get them to Nobugs. The above photos are very powerful, imo, in showing the devastation that is occurring due to this bug epidemic. I live on Long Island and I should also be taking photos….just last week I saw a discarded boxspring and a beautiful Wooden Headboard…no one in my suburb would dare put the words bed bugs on their discarded stuff because well, everyone knows everyone around here….I have seen several homes with discarded bedding in the last several months..So please lets start getting some pics to Nobugs…or I guess download them onto Flicker…and then Nobugs can retrieve them from there…People from everywhere should to this…we need to make the devastation visible….

Oh, geez. Look at that mattress standing upwards. I really hope that it’s not close to a window above it although you can see the door to the right in the photo. And….it’s next to the garbage cans where people usually go to throw out their garbarge coming close to the bugs. This mattress is not even wrapped.

(I can explain the hows and wherefores.)
I’d love to blog more refuse photos. But I have to ask people to consider starting their own flickr accounts if at all possible. It’s free, and if you have a flickr account, you can start a second free anonymous one, so it need not sully your account. That way, I can blog your discarded mattress (or bug bite photos) more easily. When people email them to me it can be very time consuming.
Alternatively, if one volunteer wants to take on the job of posting photos of bug bites and mattresses, please get in touch and then we will put you to work
