Nomo,
Welcome to the grand club of Bedbuggers-who-are-mistaken-for-blokes. You're in good company.
Also, there is no way you will be considered a guest blogger. Now you have shown us your talents, I'm afraid you've left everyone wanting more. So blog away!

Not to spread rumors around or anything, but I heard Nomo is a girl. I also heard all she had to do really is quote Judge Posner and call it a day, so what's the big deal? (And lemme tell you, that decision is an exhilarating read!)

But I accept all the sweetness!! I can use it, mm-huh. Thanks to Jess and Nobugs for letting me guest post; it was so much fun. You guys are the absolute best-est!

I'd like to know more about the protocol for treating infested hotel rooms. They tell us that, in our homes, we need to keep sleeping on our beds to lure the bugs out of hiding and across the poisons. So, in a hotel room, who is... or is that a question I'd rather not have an answer to?!

The case is done -- I can't imagine they'd be foolish enough to take it further. Although, if Accor did not have the sense to settle and avoid further embarrassment, by one of the best legal minds in the country no less...

What is astonishing is how the plaintiffs hit the motherlode in discovery; look at everything they found! True, Motel 6 was very, very naughty, but they couldn't have known all that when they first filed suit.

What is scary is wondering about what goes on today, in 2007, in the hotel industry. I'm reminded of the Vancouver hotelier Nobugs wrote about who built a thermal treating facility (haha, was it in the back of the parking lot???) to cook all the furniture from an infested room and then they could sell it again that same night.

Eager to learn more...

S, if you think that's bad, I read Nomo's article in a hotel. ;-)
Luckily, it appears to be bed bug-free.

warm milk would not do it fo me S., I was about to go looking at some of the links--but I, too, do not like to see bed bugs pics before retiring. I'll take two "whatevers" and save the milk for my cereal in the moring. :)

My god. I just have to say, I was reading the first article that was linked in this post - the one linked to "he killed them with a tissue" - and it was just filled with photos of bedbugs. Which is fine, for educational purposes and all, but still.

I do not like to look at pictures of bedbugs, especially before going to bed. So I'm doing my best to cover up the photos with my hand, while I read the article. I'm doing it all right, although every so often my hand slips and I see the photos. Ugh ugh ugh.

Then I get towards the bottom, and they have AN ANIMATION of a bedbug crawling across the screen! Did they REALLY have to go there?

All right. I think I need some warm milk.

WMSB, it says the name of the person who posted it at the bottom of the article. In the grey bar where it also says how many comments there are.

Nomo, you're just outstanding. Outstanding in your ability to think dark thoughts, yes, but also in your ability to dig up irony and even humor while sharing an otherwise grim tale.

I can't believe this case is still going on! I thought it was over and done with! And I never realized that TWO YEARS went by while the bugs spread unchecked. I wonder if the Motel 6 bugs are the great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandmas of my bedbugs. :)

Though I suppose it would be more likely for me to pick them up in another city, than my own - I don't ever stay at hotels in Chicago! But how many people work there, that ride the bus home, whose kids to go school, etc. etc. etc.

Thanks again for the fantastically well-written article. And, glad this shocking neglect was re-exposed.

You know Jess, while were on how fantastic nomo's writing is ... nomo was one of the first to send me a message and I found his use of the English language incredibly awesome. I was not sure this was nomo’s work but now that I see two compliments to nomo I wanted to say I found this to really be top notch writing. “same as nomo’s usual style of writing.

And I'll say this here, now, too ...
I am sort of in the process of going through some of the old threads that have had no replies ... some of them can now be answered or are relevant again, so I'm
drudging as few of them up.

Repeating oneself in word in the forums (my opinion) is not at all a bad idea.
