Recently a PCO posted that the possilbility of a re-infestation was unlikely. I suppose this was meant to help those of us with paranoia about getting another infestation after having spent a year of our lives getting rid of bed bugs and several years of our savings. But according to what little statistics we have, it appears that bed bugs are on the rise. It is a curious phenomenon. I was in Istanbul Turkey in the mid- 70's and left a hotel after having found bed bugs in the bed. So bed bugs were in existance. But why the sudden surge of them in the United States? And it is true, Queen's seems to be the "epi-center" in New York. I do believe that we have to hold our government officials accountable for the bed bug epidemic. They are going to be very regretful for having ignored the "invasion of the bed bugs". People of all income brackets are getting bed bugs, it's just that higher income people do not "advertise" their bed bug infestations. Take for example Maya Rudolph of Saturday Night Live fame. Is she "talking" about her bed bug experience NO.. They freak out like everyone else, but do their best to hide it. Which is shirking off their social responsibility. I know this for a fact because when I was dealing with my exterminators, in Long Island, they all admitted to having hundreds of calls a month from people in single family homes, in upscale communities. These infestations fall thru the "statistics cracks", that is unless exterminators are subjected by law to report a bed bug extermination. Right now we know for certain that bed bugs are showing up in epidemc proportions, everywhere, Madison Ave store, police precincts, in schools and office bldgs.,..I wish more people would "fes up"...but if any gov't.officials are lurking on this blog., know for certain that you have a big problem on your hands.
