Possible travel solution for bed bugs?

Here’s something that might help if you need to travel and want to avoid bed bugs: 100% cotton luggage. You can fill it with ziplocked clothing, so the clothes you take to a hotel are bed bug free. But you can also throw it in a washing machine when before you get home (wash on hot, dry on hot; if it’s clean, you can just dry it to de-bug, which will probably preserve the condition of the bag much better).
I cannot guarantee it will not shrink, lose shape, change colors or otherwise morph, but it will probably stay in one piece and be usable. And make you feel like less of a freak than would walking through the Day’s Inn lobby with an XL ziploc .
For the gentlemen: okay, we’re still looking for your ideal solution.

If you are allergic to paisley, I think a regular canvas duffel bag would work. Something like this.
I’ve washed nylon duffels before–but never dried them for as long as an hour so don’t know how long you can dry them before ruining them.
Not sure what would work for a business traveler.

HI Hopeless– Yes, good idea. Cotton-poly blends are more likely to be okay in the dryer. I think 40 minutes of drying is sufficient on hot. But I know the word is out on that.
As long as the business traveler won’t have their luggage seen by anyone who matters, I think it’s good to be safe rather than sorry.
I think you can buy really cheap simple nylon garment bags for $10, though I am not sure where to get them. (Maybe a uniform supply–I had a uniform once and they gave them out in these bags). It would not be classy by any means but might draw less attention and would fold up small so could easily be frozen for re-use at a later time.
