One good thing about bed bugs

As of November 8, 2006, the Ugandan Army will no longer accept prospective soldiers who have jiggers, i.e. bed bugs. So those of you who are suffering from infestations, cheer up, there probably won’t be a recruiter knocking on your door telling you your next assignment is Kampala.

Uganda has lifted the ban on DDT use in order to kill malaria carrying mosquitos. As a consequence the Ugandans are reaping the benefits of bedbug deaths. Now, their policy is not to allow their citizens to bring bedbug infestations to others in their armed forces! American Soldiers returning from the war in Iraq and Afghanistan, to my knowledge, are not being treated for bedbug infestations, thus after bravely serving their country, they are being rewarded with the possiblity of bringing a bedbug infestation into their homes. When my Uncle came home from WWII he was dusted with DDT to prevent bringing home any “alien bugs”…he is living in SW VA. He is 90 yrs old. If any soldiers bring home bedbugs the US military should be legally bound to clean their homes of any bedbug infestations.
