another bedbug lawsuit

According to the NY Sun, A Mexican family claims to have been attacked by bedbugs in the Anaheim Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California. They filed a lawsuit, seeking damages.

The assistant general manager of the hotel, Karlyn Bretz, said the hotel hasn’t received a copy of the lawsuit. “We are definitely aware of the incident and the guest, and nothing is more important than our guests’ welfare,” Ms. Bretz said, noting that the hotel paid for medical treatment of the bites.

Ms. Juarez Bedoya’s lawyer, Alan Schnurman, called the hotel’s account “false” and claimed the hotel didn’t pay the medical bills.

Update (10/14):  here’s a news report which goes into more detail.  The woman and her two kids had over 1100 bites between them.

Hi. I am very interested in your lawsuit. I have a client who is also suing a major Hotel concern for not only the hundreds of bites, welts and blisters she got from a COLONY of bedbugs living in the bed she slept in for one night, but for the trauma she suffered in being afflicted, not being able to go to work (where she interfaced with the public including serving them food) , not having any social life for almost a month, sleeplessness, paranoia etc. I wonder how suits like this come out — do they settle? for how much? Do they go to trial? Is the jury sympathetic? Any guidance would be appreciated — including names of attorneys who have gone down this path. Thanx.

    Elissa,
We’re not lawyers. This is a blog, and we are just commenting on the news as reported in the media.
We have covered several such articles. If you look here, you can see them. Several, including the one for the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Londonm give the law firms associated with the cases. Contacting them might be a start.
