Hi Mimi,
Thanks for your comment.
I am sorry to hear of your situation, but I am glad you shared it. People may be reading this who aren't bed bug sufferers, and your words will help educate them.
I think we have to get across to people who are ignorant about this pest how awful it truly is. I think the article went a way towards doing that.

It is a tremendous strain mentally and physically as well as the financial. I have three young children and have hardly the time to keep washing their loveys and blankets that get dragged around everyday from room to room.
It is heartbreaking to see every other week they have bites on their faces, after treatment and have to do it all over again.
It is difficult since my home is a 3 family and my tenants are not "educated" to the extent of cleaning and dumping of possessions in order to just keep on top of it all. They didn't mention they had bb's until my home got infested and I got an exterminator to check their homes. I have gotten to the point that I am trying to create a "safe" home for my family and try to maintain their apts. But it is a daunting task. It is more than a full time job to clean, vaccuum, spray and check every day! Plus being a wife and mom.
It is not easy. Maybe people don't understand the extend of damage bb can do until they are the victims even then they treat them like roaches and spray and live with them.
The city needs to implement a plan on how to resolve this, not a task force to tell people the landlord is responsible and to get an exterminator.
People need to be properly educated on how bbs are transferred and to properly "maintain" themselves and their property while being infested.
It is difficult since finances do not allow people access to treatment and thus start the cycle of infestation all over again.
